Maureen Gertrude (Mullins) Sousa

Maureen Gertrude (Mullins) Sousa, 90, of First School Street, passed away on August 1, 2021 at Grace Barker Health.  She was the wife of the late Uriel Sousa Jr. 

Born in East Freetown, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (Bosworth) Mullins.  She is survived by her children: Patrick J. Sousa and his wife Melanie; Russell J. Sousa and his wife Joann; Robert A. Sousa; and Christopher Sousa.  She was the mother of the late Uriel (Sonny) Sousa III; David Sousa and Helen Smith. She is also survived by her grandchildren Austin Sousa, Emily Sousa, Katie Sousa-Delvaux, Paul Sousa, Marc Cote, Colleen LeComte, Jonathan Sousa, Jessica Oliver, Erin O’Brien, Harley Sousa-Goodman, Ashley Cheatom, Cory McKie and 17 great grandchildren.  She was the mother-in-law of Rosemarie Papas.

Mrs. Sousa was a graduate of Holy Family High School in New Bedford, MA.  She was employed by Nyanza, First National and Stop & Shop before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Calling hours are Friday 5 - 8 PM.

** Mask use is required. The family will be wearing masks and ask the all visitors wear them as well.**
