Obituary
Michael W. Harper, also known as Mel to family and friends, 64, of Newport and formerly of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2023, at home.
Born in New Mexico, he was the son of the late William and Rosemary (Trask) Harper. He is survived by his daughters: Kristen E. Harper of Warren, Ashley L. Harper of Rumford, Tara N. Harper of Warren, and Jessica L. Harper of Massachusetts; his grandsons Joseph Rodrigues and Brody Shaker; and his siblings Susan Waddell of Bristol, William Harper of Kansas, Robert Harper of Bristol, David Harper of Bristol, Kelly Harper of Bristol, and Lori Thibeault of East Providence. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Mel was predeceased by his sister Bernadine Poissant.
Mel enjoyed cooking, sitting by the fire, spending time at the beach and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to held on Sunday, June 25th, 2 - 3 PM at the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol.
