Raul A. Cordeiro Obituary

Raul (Roy) Cordeiro, 59, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous and heartbreaking battle with cancer.

Born on February 7, 1966, in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, São Miguel, Açores, Roy came into the world with a tender heart and an infectious smile that would stay with him throughout his life. He moved to the United States in January 1978 at the age of 12, beginning a new chapter alongside his family.

Roy graduated from Bristol High School in 1984 and went on to follow his passion for cars, enrolling at New England Tech to study automobile mechanics. That passion turned into a lifelong career, working alongside his brother for over 30 years at International Auto Body.

Roy first met his wife, Luisa, in 1984 during a visit back to the Azores. They later reunited in 1988 and married on July 14, 1990. Together, they built a life and welcomed two beautiful children, Tommy and Marlaina.

In his free time, Roy was an avid soccer fan and a proud Benfica superfan. He rooted hard for the Dallas Cowboys and Montreal Canadiens, never missing a chance to rally behind his teams. In his younger days, you’d catch him cruising on his motorcycle or tearing up the streets in his Saab Turbo. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and never passed up a Heineken or a Três Marias, especially when paired with a Marlboro Red.

In addition to his wife Maria Luisa Cordeiro, Roy is survived by his children: Tommy Cordeiro of Bristol and Marlaina Cordeiro of Bristol; grandchildren: River Cardoza and Forrest Cardoza; and his siblings: Antonio Cordeiro, Maria E. Carreiro, John Cordeiro, Durval Cordeiro, and Barbara Soares.

Roy’s warm heart will be fondly remembered. His legacy endures in the treasured memories he leaves behind and the love that continues to surround his name.

Roy’s funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 8:30 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street.
