Renato DeAlmeida

Renato DeAlmeida, 100, of Thames Street, passed away on May 23, 2026, at home. He was the husband of the late Maria (Barreiro) DeAlmeida.

Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Gualter Piques and Maria Lurdes De Almeida. He is survived by his children: Walter (Isaura) DeAlmeida of Bristol, Mario (Zelia) DeAlmeida of Bristol, and Fernando Paulo DeAlmeida of Bristol; grandchildren: Helen Araujo, Sandra Martins, Steve Martins, Michelle Barreira, Neil DeAlmeida, Sharon Medeiros, Mario DeAlmeida, Jr., and Shawn G. DeAlmeida; great-grandchildren: Joey Araujo, Natasha McGee, Jordan Araujo, Evan Martins, Briana Martins, Dylan Barreira, Austin DeAlmeida, Owen Barreira, Deja DeAlmeida, Sabrina DeAlmeida, Jacob DeAlmeida, Lucas Medieros, Arianna Medeiros, Stella DeAlmeida, and Sophie DeAlmeida; and great-great grandchildren: Jameson Araujo, Ezra Simon Barreira, Rukia Amparo Barreira, Elsie Hope Barreira, Devyn DeAlmeida, and Zeke Soares.

He was predeceased by: his daughter Rosemaria Martins and son Louis DeAlmeida; and brother Jose Vieira.

Mr. DeAlmeida was educated in Portugal. He was a self-employed artist, electrician, and shoemaker. When he emigrated to the United States, he was employed by Bristol Flock on Thames Street for over 10 years.

His funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 8 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
