Richard Henri Desilets

Richard Henri Desilets, 74, of Terrace Drive passed away on May 23, 2023 at home.  He was the husband of Verna (McKenna) Desilets.  

Born in Danielson, CT, he was the son of the late Florent and Irene (Cloutier) Desilets.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Richard H. Desilets Jr of Cumberland; Daniel M. Desilets and his wife Stephanie of Dighton, MA; and Tara Lynn Desilets of Bristol.  He was the grandfather of Daniel E. Desilets and Michaela Desilets and brother of Robert (Donna) Desilets and the late Anne Scallin.

Mr. Desilets was a graduate of Barrington High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from URI.  His parents were the original founders of the Desilets Nursing Home where Richard worked for decades as the nursing home administrator.

Richard’s faith sustained him throughout his life. He trusted and accepted God’s will and lived accordingly.  As a lifelong musician and vocalist, Rick shared his talents in many venues including his first group called the Ascots (70’s), Midnight Sun and Dusty Grey (80’s), the Classifieds (90’s) and lastly as a member of our Lady of Mount Carmel Church choir. He was inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame 2015 and was an avid sports fan. His greatest joy came from his devotion to his family most especially his grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM . Burial will be private.
