Robert A. Clark, 79, of Bristol, RI, passed away at home on April 7, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Maureen A. (McFadden) Clark. They were happily married for 56 years.
Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Hugh W. and Jean (Smith) Clark. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Robert (Jennifer) Clark, Jr., Amy (Chris) Vitale, and Dr. Courtney (Raymond) Bilodeau; grandchildren: Morgan Clark, Braeden Clark, Maeve Clark, Olivia Vitale, Katharine Vitale, Elizabeth Vitale, Genevieve Bilodeau, Owen Bilodeau, and Brianne Bilodeau; and sisters: Mildred (Anthony) Silva, Janice Johnston, and Patricia Clark, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Alice Clark-Smith.
Bob was a graduate of Middletown High School where he was a talented baseball and football player. Following high school, he achieved his goal of becoming a Marine. He went on to build a career with New England Telephone/Verizon for 29 years before retiring as a construction manager. He was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers and generously supported a variety of causes, with special interest in supporting veterans, animals, and medical research. Bob understood the true value of friendship and enjoyed time golfing with his many friends. He was also an avid reader and lifelong learner.
Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, his resilience, his integrity, and his deep pride and abundant love for his family.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 18, 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol, RI.
