Robert William “Bob” Molloy, 88, of Bay View Avenue passed away on August 19,2023 at home. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Camara) Molloy and the late Rosaline (August) Molloy.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Timothy J. Molloy and Mary M. (Lewis) Molloy. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and son Mark Molloy, both of Bristol; Elizabeth’s daughters, Leslie Camara-Smith (Carlton) of Douglasville, Georgia, and Lisa Camara of Bristol; and Elizabeth’s grandchildren, Lauren, Luciano, Landan, and Legend Camara. He was the brother of James Molloy of Bristol and Catherine St. Onge of Westerly, and leaves numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Bob was a 1953 graduate of La Salle Academy. After service in the U.S. Army, he was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation as a Specifications Engineer for 24 years. He then established his own painting and interior business where he developed a large clientele over the course of more than 30 years working in the East Bay area and nearby Massachusetts, and continued providing handyman services for many loyal customers.
He was a strong supporter of local charities, working with Mary’s Helpers of St. Mary’s Church and at the East Bay Food Pantry. He was a past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St .Mary’s Church. Bob was a long-time member of local running associations, and enjoyed travel and nature walks, as well as reading, music, and gardening. He was familiar as an usher at St. Mary’s for many years, and assisted in the construction of award-winning 4th of July floats for the church with a group of dedicated friends and parishioners.
His funeral services will be held Saturday August 26th, 9 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at Mary’s Church, 330 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.
