Scott Hamilton Marston, 80, of Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Hope Health Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1945, he was the son of the late George and Louise (Garrett) Marston.
He is survived by his children: Alison Marston and Timothy Marston (Molly); the mother of his children, Margaret (Ferguson) Marston; grandchildren: Gabriella Hoff, Mae Marston, and McNamara “Mac” Marston, all of Bristol; siblings: Dana Wood and Kevin Marston of Cincinnati, Ohio, Eric Marston of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Scott graduated from Green Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1967 from the University of Michigan. He later earned his master’s degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island in 1973. He built a career in sales and marketing of underwater systems and later in the HVAC industry.
Scott proudly served his country during the Vietnam era as a line officer in the United States Navy. He entered The Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island in 1968. Upon graduation, he was stationed in the Pacific Fleet. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander before transitioning to his civilian career.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his resilience, his affinity for the ocean, and the deep love he had for his family.
His family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Dawn Hill Home for Rehab and Healthcare in Bristol, Rhode Island, the medical teams at the VA Medical Centers in Providence and Middletown, Rhode Island, and the compassionate caregivers at Hope Health Philip Hulitar Hospice Center for their care, support, and kindness.
A private celebration of his life will be held by the ocean at a later date.
