Silvina C. Avila, 94, of Silver Creek Manor, passed away on August 7, 2024. She was the wife of the late Silvino Avila.

Born in Castel Branco, Faial, she was the daughter of Jose A. and Elisa S. Dos Santos. Mrs. Avila is survived by: her children Olga (Jorge) Garcia of CA, Silvino (Cathy) Avila of Montreal, Canada, Lisa (Jose) Correia of Bristol, Manny (Kerry) Avila of Medway, MA, and daughter-in-law Maria Ester Avila of Johnston; grandchildren Steven (Sean Schuyler) Garcia, Mark (Billie) Garcia, Debbie (Tony) Benfield, Melissa (Johnny) Cutter, Melanie (Bruce) Goglia, Christina (Mohamed El Helaly) Avila, Jennifer (Angelo) Tavares, Michael Avila, Kevin (Rachal) Correia, Joshua (Michael Grimmer) Avila, Alex (Megan Higgins) Avila, Tyler (Stephanie Ash) Avila, and Ben Avila; and great-grandchildren Michaela Goglia, Megan Erickson, Mariah Erickson, Everson Goglia, Cameron Garcia, Ashley Benfield, Isabella Garcia, Emma Goglia, Evan Benfield, Jayden Erickson, Maya Goglia, Aaliyah El Helaly, Zein El Helaly, Xavier Tavares, Victoria Tavares, and Rosalyn Correia.

She was predeceased by: her son Jose Avila; grandson Christopher Avila; and siblings Maria Amelia Pereira, Manuel Dos Santos, Eugenia Goulart, and Maria Alice Faria.

Silvina was educated in Faial. She was employed by American Tourister in Warren, R & J Jewelry in Warren, and Rhode Island Lace Co. in Barrington.  

Silvina loved her family so much – they were the most important people in her life. She lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed and celebrated Sunday dinners at home for many years. She was a very religious woman and attended mass all the time when she was able. Silvina was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Everyone who knew Silvina loved her; she was the sweetest, most loving, caring woman. She ended every conversation with her family and friends by saying “I love you!” She leaves behind many beautiful memories. Silvina now joins her husband, son, and grandson at Heaven’s Gate. May the happy memories she shared with her loved ones live on in their hearts forever.

Her funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 8:30 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
