Suzanne (Dobija) Chambers

Suzanne (Dobija) Chambers, 61, of Cliff Drive, Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of David Chambers.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts and raised in Norwood, Suzanne was the daughter of Robert and the late Geraldine (Moran) Dobija. In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by her children: Thomas Chambers and his fiancé Kristen Lee of Bellingham, MA., and Kevin Chambers and his longtime partner Cynthia Miranda of Newport, RI; siblings: Kathleen (Leslie) Beckwith of Wolfeboro, NH., and John (Jack McCauley) Dobija of Jamaica Plain, MA.; and brother-in-law: Paul DiMattia of Centerville, MA. She also cherished her nieces and nephews Christine, Lisa, Joshua and Jason Beckwith and Serena and Jonathan DiMattia, as well as grand nephews and nieces Henry Marchetti, and Siena, Victoria and Luca Fusaro.

She was predeceased by her sister Karen DiMattia.

Suzanne was a graduate of Norwood High School and Framingham Union School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years. The most important focus of her life was raising and caring for her family. Her love and care was rewarded with two outstanding sons, who were the pride and joy of her life. Suzanne and Dave enjoyed 21 years in Abington, MA, where they raised the boys.

In 2014 they moved to beautiful Bristol, RI, which became Suzanne’s dream hometown. It was there she was introduced to Pickleball, which became her passion. She was a founding member of the Bristol Pickleball Club where she welcomed many to the sport and helped grow it to the immensely popular group it has become today.

Suzanne and the family also loved the outdoors. Countless hours were spent on the beach at Marshfield, on tranquil Wilson Lake in Maine, camping all over New England, and gliding down picturesque New England streams and rivers with Dave in their kayaks. She loved fishing as a kid, from her dad’s boats off Marshfield, and later with the boys on camping trips. She also enjoyed geocaching and craft beer. She was an original member of the Kennel Club of Six-Pack Brewery.

After two years of searching, Suzanne found the perfect motor home and she and Dave embarked on their dream in October 2023. For six months they traveled and camped across the country and had the time of their lives. They met many new friends, and enjoyed the incredible beauty of our country, and its people.

Suzanne was noted by all to light up a room with her smile. She was a joy to be around and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the team at the Newport Hospital Cancer Center for the outstanding, professional, sensitive and loving care provided during Suzanne’s treatment. They made the battle as pleasant as it could be.

Friends and family are invited to attend Suzanne’s funeral services on Thursday, May 8, 12:30 – 4 PM at the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street. Internment is private.
