Vasco R. Pires, 80, of Mount Avenue, passed away on May 3, 2025, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Lindaura F. (Raposo) Pires.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of Augusto and Elaria Pires. He is survived by his son: Vasco Pires of Bristol; his brother: Augusto Pires of Canada; in-laws: Virginia (Raposo) Dupont of Carver, MA, and Walter Fox of Bristol; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his uncle: Guilherme Pires; and brother-in-law: Joe Raposa.
Mr. Pires was educated in Portugal. He was an Angola War veteran in the Portuguese army. Mr. Pires was employed by the Northeastern Cable Company for over 40 years before retiring.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 9:30 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
