Violante I. Lemos Obituary
Violante Inacia Lemos, 94, of Bristol, passed away on November 16, 2024, at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Mario G. DeLemos.
Born in São Mateus, Pico, Azores, she was the daughter of Jose I. and Francisca (Sousa) Matos. She is survived by: her sons Oscar (Lisa) DeLemos of Bristol and Joseph (Carrie) DeLemos of Bristol; grandchildren Jonathan (Alisha) DeLemos, Josselyn (Troy Silvia) DeLemos, Jessica (Adam) Hamel, and Kayla DeLemos; and great-grandchildren Tristen DeLemos, Emerson DeLemos, Emilia Hamel, and Lucas Hamel; and siblings Gilberto Matos of Canada, Luis Matos of Canada, Jorge Sousa of Pico, Azores, and Francelina Silva of Pico, Azores.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Manuel Matos, Jose Matos, Maria Costa, Laurencio Sousa, Antonio Matos, and Leonardo Matos.
Mrs. Lemos was educated in Portugal. She was employed by Premier Thread and P.F. Industries for many years before retiring. Her favorite things to do were crocheting, excitedly cheer for the Boston Bruins, word searches, babysitting her grandkids, and Sunday dinners with her family.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 8:30 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, (577 Wood Street). Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
